Seminar on Applications of Data-mining Software to Enhance Quality of Teaching

The Quality Office held a seminar titled “Applications of Data-mining Software to Enhance Quality of Teaching” on April 7, 2025. Dr. Ng Hoi Kuen from the Department of Computer Science shared his practical experiences in teaching courses on data-mining and big data analytics. Dr. Ng explained how data-mining software can be integrated into the classroom to support both teaching and learning. He demonstrated specific applications of these tools, such as analyzing student performance data, identifying learning patterns, and providing personalized feedback to students. He also discussed the benefits and challenges of using big data analytics in education and shared examples from his own courses showing how data-driven insights can help teachers improve their teaching strategies.
