In a collaborative effort with the Student Affairs Office, a career workshop was organized to equip our Computer Science students with the essential skills and knowledge for success in their future careers. The workshop was tailored to provide practical insights and guidance on interview skills, CV writing, group discussions, and group exercises.
Ms. Shelby, a distinguished former intern from our college, graced the event as the keynote speaker, sharing invaluable insights and experiences on interview skills and CV writing. Drawing from her personal journey and achievements, Ms. Shelby’s presence resonated with the students, emphasizing the significance of effective communication and presentation in job applications.
The workshop also featured our esteemed Department Head, Prof. Lo, and Senior Lecturer, Mr. Ken Kay, who delivered crucial information on current job market demands and IT industry internship opportunities. Prof. Lo highlighted industry trends and stressed the importance of acquiring sought-after skills for enhanced employability, while Mr. Kay, leveraging his internship coordination experience, shared success stories and provided guidance on maximizing internship opportunities.
To offer diverse learning experiences, students were given the option to choose between internships and taking two college courses. This approach aimed to provide practical industry exposure alongside deeper academic exploration, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application to prepare students for the challenges of the professional IT sector.
The career workshop witnessed active student engagement, with interactive elements such as group discussions and exercises fostering collaborative problem-solving skills. The supportive environment encouraged students to share ideas and learn from one another, enriching their learning experience.
The successful collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and the Student Affairs Office resulted in an impactful career workshop for our students, providing essential career skills and knowledge while showcasing available internship opportunities. We remain dedicated to organizing similar events to empower our students for prosperous careers in the realm of computer science.
Stay tuned for updates on future workshops and opportunities tailored for our Computer Science students.
