Department of Computer Science hosted an expert seminar on February 25, 2025 at Hall 02. The event focused on artificial intelligence applications in oral healthcare and was part of the Master in Applied Artificial Intelligence (MSAAI) programme. Dr. Reinhard Chau, founder of Dentomi Limited and a researcher at the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Dentistry, shared insights into how AI is transforming oral health through early caries detection, remote disease monitoring and machine learning-driven treatment planning.
The seminar was attended by 87 graduate students and aimed to connect academic learning with real-world applications. Dr. Chau’s expertise in both academia and entrepreneurship offered valuable perspectives. He has secured over HK$9 million in funding for AI-driven dental technologies. After his presentation, a discussion session allowed students to explore practical challenges and opportunities for implementing AI solutions in healthcare.
