The Department of Computer Science is proud to announce that our Department Head, Professor Lo, has been invited as both Session Chair and Invited Speaker at The 18th International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering (ICACTE 2025), to be held in Nanjing, China from September 26 to 28, 2025.
ICACTE is a prestigious annual event that brings together leading scholars and industry experts in the field of computer science and engineering. This year, Prof. Lo will serve as the Session Chair for the “Image Modeling and Image Reconstruction” onsite session, and deliver an invited speech in the main program.
Prof. Lo’s invited talk “Study on ANN and Adaptive PSO Approach for PV Panel Parameter Estimation” explores the application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of photovoltaic panel parameter estimation which is a crucial topic for renewable energy systems. Prof. Lo’s research demonstrates that combining ANN and APSO yields superior results to conventional methods, achieving high accuracy with fewer computational resources.
In addition to his invited speech, Prof. Lo chaired the onsite session on “Image Modeling and Image Reconstruction” . The session features research presentations from scholars across China, focusing on topics such as medical image segmentation, video compressive imaging, 3D model watermarking, prison safety management systems, and advanced 3D reconstruction techniques.
Prof. Lo has long been recognized for his contributions to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational engineering. His active participation in international conferences continues to raise the profile of Hong Kong’s research community on the global stage.
