The Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Chu Hai College partnered with the Quality Office to host an insightful workshop on Virtual Reality (VR) Software Development. The event highlighted VR applications including logistics simulations, cultural preservation of Hong Kong’s Tiger Balm Garden, and architectural design testing.
Led by Mr. Patrick Tung, the workshop presented a structured methodology for VR teaching systems with a focus on user-centered design and interactive features. This approach aims to boost student engagement in fields like architecture and heritage conservation. Key stages discussed include defining learning objectives, conceptualizing virtual environments with 3D models, and integrating audio-visual elements for a truly immersive experience, prioritizing educational goals over entertainment.
Participants also had the unique chance to trial a VR scene in a CAVE environment, wearing 3D glasses to fully immerse themselves in the virtual world, enhancing their understanding of VR’s potential in education.
The workshop provided a deep dive into VR software development, showcasing practical applications and innovative teaching methods.

Attendees experienced hands-on demonstrations of VR setups, exploring immersive environments and tools.

The interactive session in the CAVE environment allowed participants to wear 3D glasses and engage directly with VR scenes
