Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Chu Hai College Presents Three Major Departmental Academic Awards — Best Project Award, Excellent Subject Achievement Award, and Best Student’s Choice Award — Recognizing Outstanding AI Research Capabilities among MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence Students

Thirteen students from the 2025/26 cohort of the Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence (MSAAI) programme, offered by the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Chu Hai College, have swept three major awards in recognition of their outstanding academic and research performance. The awards include the “Best Project Award,” the “Excellent Subject Achievement Award,” and the “Best Student’s Choice Award.” This remarkable achievement underscores the program’s rigorous training and the students’ exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to the field of artificial intelligence.

Three Awards Celebrate Excellence Across Different Domains

The three awards recognize outstanding performance in different aspects, including academic research, professional presentation, and subject-specific achievement:

  • Best Project Award : This award is presented to students whose capstone projects demonstrate the highest levels of innovation, technical rigor, and practical application value, achieving an A+ grade. The capstone project is a core component of the MSAAI program, requiring students to commence their research projects in the first semester and dedicate the entire academic year to planning, learning, and implementation. The winning projects stood out among numerous submissions, impressing the review panel with their originality, depth of analysis, and real-world application potential.
  • Best Student’s Choice Award : This award is presented to the student whose project received the highest number of votes from fellow classmates and was rated as above excellent. It recognizes students who can present their capstone project findings clearly and professionally. In the field of artificial intelligence, the ability to effectively communicate complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences is a critical professional skill. This award strongly affirms the recipient’s outstanding communication and presentation abilities.
  • Excellent Subject Achievement Award : This award is presented to students who achieve an A+ grade in their subjects. The MSAAI curriculum covers foundational AI mathematics and programming, AI theory, and state-of-the-art machine learning knowledge. This award highlights the recipients’ solid mastery of these advanced disciplines.

MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence Program – Cultivating Future AI Professionals

The Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence program at Hong Kong Chu Hai College aims to impart theoretical and practical knowledge in the AI field, along with design and implementation skills, to meet the growing demand for AI professionals in a rapidly evolving technological world. A unique feature of the program is its integration of AI applications in creative industries, science, and engineering, offering two professional streams: “Science and Engineering” and “Media and Innovation Applications.”

Students are required to complete a capstone project as part of the curriculum, applying their acquired knowledge to solve real-world problems under the guidance of faculty supervisors. The program adopts an interdisciplinary teaching model, combining the expertise and resources of the Department of Information Science and the Department of Journalism and Communication. This equips graduates with a broad skill set, preparing them for diverse career roles such as AI Software Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Analysts, AI Project Managers, and more.

Notably, a total of 15 papers have been published based on the research findings derived from the capstone projects of this cohort, further demonstrating the program’s strong research output and the students’ significant contributions to the AI field.
